International Career Edit

Portugal Edit

Renato played in his first World Cup in 2018 in Russia, he assisted the most goals in the entire qualifying and secured Portugal the full points of 30. He was also dominant in the actual tournament. With 1 goal and 5 assists, Portugal didn't get out of the Group Stage, after almost every player, apart from Sanches, underperformed.

As defending champions, Portugal entered the UEFA European Championship into the so called 'Group of Death'. Despite the group also containing Germany, Belgium and a now stronger Norway, Portugal finished top of the Group. Belgium, who finished second, reached the final with Portugal. Despite going 2-0 up at half-time (with Sanches scoring the second), Portugal lost 3-2 with Dortmund's Eden Hazard scoring the winner.
